Chapman Eclipse Noire Review

Today I would like to tell you about new Chapman. These cigarettes can already be called the most noteworthy new product of 2025, and I honestly didn’t expect anything like this from Chapman. Are they worth buying? Definitely yes, and I’ll tell you why in this review.

The product is unusual, if only in its appearance – a square pack, reminiscent of Dunhills from the 90s, with two compartments, each holding 10 cigarettes. The packaging is premium. The price is above average. However, if the quality matches the price, why not?

For those unfamiliar, Chapman is a German cigarette brand. The manufacturer is Von Eicken. This family-owned business traces its history back to 1770, when the company’s founder, Johann Wilhelm Von Eicken, created his first tobacco blend and began selling tobacco products. The company is allegedly still owned by the descendants of Johann Wilhelm. At least, that’s what tobacco historians say.

The full name of the new product is Chapman Eclipse Noire. The line consists of two types of cigarettes: Gold and Platinum. The only difference between them, other than the pack colour, is strength. The Gold version is stronger than the Platinum.

The front of the pack states that “a hand-selected blend of high-quality tobaccos by our master blender is enriched with rare Caribbean cigar tobaccos and is produced in limited quantities.”

As far as I know, the cigarettes have been on sale for several months. However, “limited quantity” is a rather relative term. It could be as few as 10,000 packs or as many as 100 million packs. It depends on how you define the limit. Generally speaking, any quantity can be considered limited, because releasing the same product over and over again will eventually become tiresome.

The cigarettes themselves, matching the premium design, are dressed in all black. They feature a wide silver ring separating the filter from the main body of the tube. The Chapman inscription is printed lengthwise on the filter. The filter also has two perforated rings.

In this case, these are not flavoured cigarettes. Furthermore, the filter, unlike most Chapman versions, is not sweetened.

The aroma from the pack is refined and tobacco-like, but I find a hint of sauce. Creamy, pastry, and fruity notes can be detected in the aroma. All of these are present in moderation, though. The scent isn’t overly strong. Still, the tobacco is the primary focus. The pastries and coffee come second.

Chapman Eclipse Noire cigarettes smoke deliciously. A pleasant, smooth smoke. The flavour is light and mellow. The strength is 0.5-0.6 mg/cig in nicotine terms, which is slightly below average. And without the perforations on the filter, I think the cigarettes would have a more serious and masculine appearance.

The flavour also has hints of cake, vanilla, and coffee. But again, all of this in moderation. It’s there only to round out the flavour of a decent tobacco. The cigarettes are not bad, by any means. I definitely enjoyed them. And if you compare Eclipse Noire to other Champagne varieties, they’re probably among the best.
