Armenian Cigaronne Cigarettes Review

For a change, today we’ll taste one of the most striking and interesting (in terms of appearance) Armenian cigarettes. We’ll be talking about the Cigaronne brand.

Manufacturer

This product is manufactured by SPS Cigaronne LLC, Yerevan, Armenia, and is under the control of Cigaronne International Ltd, London, UK. These are considered premium cigarettes. At least, the price immediately suggests this—they’re 30-40% more expensive than Marlboro. Whether we owe this quality primarily to the Armenians or the British remains to be seen.

Features

This product’s website also strikes us with its mystery from the very first glance. The first phrase is: “Cigaronne is perfection, because the highest standard is still unknown.” The marketers have done their homework, basically.

The developers have done their homework, too. They’ve written a huge text explaining the benefits of these cigarettes. I’ll just outline a few points gleaned there, and then I’ll move on to the review itself.

  1. The new “Cigaronne” line is produced using only high-quality, freshly harvested tobacco from renowned Latin American and African plantations. The tobacco undergoes multi-stage purification using innovative conditioning technologies. As a result, toxic substances such as chlorine, nitrogen-containing pesticides, and complex heteropoly compound molecules are removed from the tobacco. This purification completely eliminates the unpleasant odor and bitter taste that occur in the mouth after smoking.
  2. The creators emphasize is the combined filter-mouthpiece. “Our company’s combined filter-mouthpiece, based on the natural material PERLITE, is unique in the global tobacco industry. It provides microfiltration of smoke. As a result of microfiltration, a minimal, constant amount of tar and nicotine remains in the inhaled smoke,” the manufacturer’s website states.
  3. The brand’s creators draw attention to is the unique appearance of “Cigaronne,” which includes a myriad of security features, as well as elements that supposedly serve aesthetic and hygienic purposes.

When I read all this, I couldn’t help but smile. It’s well known that some publications pay journalists based on the number of characters they write. So, I got the impression that the author of the advertising copy for these cigarettes tried to write as much as possible. He repeated himself, blurred the wording, etc. In short, he did his job.

Review

Now on to the review. Yes, there are many security features. Various iridescent symbols, bulges, perforations. The pack is attractive. The cigarettes themselves are also stylishly designed. I have no complaints about the product’s appearance and like everything about it. I generally like the combination of black and silver.

Let’s open the pack. It smells pleasant. Tobacco mixed with confectionery and spices. At the same time, the aroma is slightly sweet.

Unfortunately, once you smoke them, any delightful impression of their appearance vanishes. They taste somehow synthetic. It’s like tobacco, but not quite. There’s a taste, but it’s not tobacco. The strength is low; for the first half of the cigarette, it feels like you’re smoking air. Then something seems to come through, but you still don’t get high. I remember trying Cigaronne for the first time about three years ago, and they were much better. At least, they were richer, more aromatic, and stronger. Now (if I close my eyes), I can’t tell these Cigaronnes apart from other mass-market Winstons and Camels. Too bad. That’s my sad review for today.
